Donation vs Dumpster
Charities – There are several national organizations that accept gently used furniture, household items, and clothing. If you prefer your donations to help people a little closer to home you may check with area churches and shelters that run programs helping people get back on their feet in the Indianapolis area.
Schools – Local schools may be able to use kids and young adult clothing for the nurses office and furniture items for their theater department. It’s recommended to call and inquire about their needs prior to dropping off any items.
Scrap haulers – Your local town or city Facebook groups may have people that offer to come pick up some metal items for free or a small charge to cover their fuel. Once collected they break them down and sell the scrap metal.
